PA ACT 172 - Incentives for Municipal Volunteers of Fire Companies and EMS Agencies

Act 172 of 2016 allows municipalities to offer a real estate or earned income tax credit to active members of volunteer fire companies and nonprofit emergency medical service agencies through a volunteer service credit program. Active volunteers who meet the service credit criteria established by the municipality, in consultation with the fire chief or supervisor of the EMS agency, would be eligible for the tax credit. Each municipality may choose whether to offer the earned income tax credit, the real estate tax credit, or both. Has your municipality considered offering these tax credits? Do you have an understanding of ACT 172 of 2016? How do you implement such a program? Are there variables you are not considering?  Join Michael Crotty, Esq., Siana Bellwoar, on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the Westtown Township building, 8:00 – 9:30 AM, to discuss ACT 172 of 2016.
