Yesterday we announced the opening of the 2024 Regular Round of grant funding from the PECO Green Region program. As in the past, competitive grant awards are available for up to $10,000 with a dollar-for-dollar cash match for natural area improvement projects being undertaken by Philadelphia non-profit organizations or suburban municipalities within PECO’s service territory.

We also shared some exciting news to celebrate 2024 being the 20^th anniversary of the PECO Green Region Open Space Program. Since the Program’s inception in 2004, PECO has provided over $3.15 million to municipalities and non-profit organizations in our region for their open space projects through the Green Region Program, and partnered with Natural Lands through it all—more than 400 acres of open space preserved, 150 parks improved, 50 miles of trail installed, and almost 9,000 trees put in the ground. To celebrate this milestone, PECO is offering a second Bonus Round that opened yesterday as well. PECO Green Region anniversary rounds have historically been open to all applicants within PECO’s service territory, which means you are invited to apply to the Bonus Round regardless of whether or not your municipality/non-profit organization has an outstanding PECO Green Region award.

For the Bonus Round, there will be just one award granted for $50,000 with no match required. This funding is being provided specifically for a clean energy project that is aligned with PECO’s Path to Clean initiative (https://www.peco.com/safety-community/environment/our-path-to-clean).

Applicants are welcome to apply to both the 2024 Regular and Bonus Rounds and can find more information, as well as a link to the application portal, through www.natlands.org/peco . The application period for both rounds closes at 4:00 PM on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
